True Confessions
The first confession is that I have not done any creating since getting ready for the blog hop -- which was great fun by the way. I would certainly do it again. My day job just keeps getting in the way!
The second confession is about Black Friday shopping. For a while now I've been buying embossing folders despite the fact that I didn't have anything to emboss with. The Tim Holtz Texture Fades are very cool. I figured if I got them on sale or with a coupon that someday I'd get some sort of inexpensive something to use them with. Well, on Black Friday, with my ads and coupons in hand I made my way to my favorite plaza. The one with a Michaels and an A C Moore next to each other - and a Jo-Ann Fabrics around the corner. It was mid-afternoon by the time I got out of the house so I wasn't sure if much would be left.
First stop was A C Moore and sitting by itself, with the sign hanging off of it, in the front of the store was one lone Vagabond Die Cutter. Now I've been intrigued by these since they were introduced this summer at CHA but I had never actually seen one in person. So in a state of focused fascination, without hesitation or so much as a single evaluative thought I scooped the little fellow up and put him in my cart.
"I'll just take a look at the box" I thought as I browsed around the store. But when I checked out the little guy went in the bag and out the door with me. "I'll just have a look at it and then put it back in the (very cute) box and take it back" I thought as I put it in the trunk.
That evening I carefully slit the tape and slid it out. He was every bit as adorable as his pictures. Compact and solid-feeling with charmingly aged brass-looking fittings and corner protectors. Everything folded up so neatly as I tucked it back into its cardboard container. I actually patted it as I put it away. The next day I had to take a look again. I thought of the embossing folders I owned and how neat it would be to use them. The next thing I knew I had the plastic off the the cutting platform, the machine was plugged in and I was embossing my first sheet of cardstock! Its a expensive toy I know -- but I won't be able to part with it. It is just too darn cute!
Now if I could only get an afternoon to play...
