Thanksgiving Blog Hop Day 2
For my second project I intended to make a card. My idea was to take one of the many flowers I'd already made, surround it with a few leaves, place it on a pretty piece of paper and call it a project. So I made the mat (very pretty hand-printed looking paper) gave it a little deckle edge and picked out one of my sunflower-looking flowers. Then I started thinking about the leaves. Sunflowers have heart-shaped leaves and I didn't have anything like that. So I a made a couple green hearts. Then I thought they would look so much better if the texture matched the sort of rough, mulberry-ish texture of the flower. So I misted them and crumpled them and let them dry and they looked so real! Wouldn't it be cool (I thought) if they were on a stem. It would be like a real flower. I pierced the sunflower with an upholstery pin and stuck a piece of florist wire through the flower and anchored it at the top with a tiny loop in the wire, covered the wire with florist tape, glued the green hearts to little wires covered in tape also and worked on merging the three wires.
This is what I ended up with. Well, I have to say I got pretty excited because I had made a whole flower. I had to try again -- and again and again! Making flower heads...
...adding stamens and different kinds of centers...
...and experimenting with ways to get them on stems. A day later I had a little bouquet...
But I never did make a card.
All the flower and leaves are made from cuts from Walk in My Garden.

These flowers are amazing. This is the first project like this I've seen. Usually the flowers are very "paper" like, but I would have to feel these to see if they were real. Awesome job.
